ABOUT

Sophie Deller (b. 1995, Truro, UK) is a LONDON-BASED MULTIDISCIPLINARY ARTIST working across PAINT, TEXTILES, CERAMICS, PRINT, COLLAGE, DIGITAL MEDIA, and PHOTOGRAPHY. Moving from PORTRAIT HYPERREALISM to BOLD ABSTRACTION, her work merges SHAPE, COLOUR, and TEXTURE to REIMAGINE the FAMILIAR into somehow COMFORTING and PLAYFUL FORMS. Being influenced by both MUSIC and WALKING, her compositions UNFOLD INTUITIVELY, yielding a RHYTHMIC and ADVENTURE-LIKE feel, often interweaving moments of QUIET REFLECTION with passages of BOLD INTENSITY, creating a sense of IMAGINATIVE DISCOVERY.

She has completed COMMISSIONS for musicians such as GEORGE EZRA and PENTIRE and won the 2025 SLOWDOWN BLANKET COMPETITION, drawing attention and votes from prominent artists like MR. DOODLE. She is also represented and featured by RISE ART, DROOL, GOODMOOD PRINTS, and EAST END PRINTS.

  • Sophie’s work is inspired by everyday observations, from flowers, stars and wonky characters to the fleeting objects and moments she encounters while wandering through city streets, parks and public spaces. Drawing on her strong influence of street photography, these chance encounters become starting points for her compositions. Music is also a central influence on both her work and her process, shaping the rhythm and energy of each piece. Her approach is intuitive and open-ended, allowing ideas to evolve organically and build over time as she responds to these influences while a piece unfolds.

  • Sophie’s style is bold, playful and experimental, characterised by strong colour palettes, layered textures and abstracted forms. While she originally trained in hyper-realistic portraiture and black-and-white drawing, her practice has evolved into a more adventurous, expressive approach that prioritises curiosity, movement and spontaneity.
